Meet the Lily Pad Succulent: A Rare Aeonium Hybrid You’ll Fall in Love With🌿
If you’re obsessed with uniquely shaped succulents, then the Lily Pad Succulent, is about to become your new favorite plant baby.

What Is the Lily Pad Succulent?

This rare Aeonium hybrid gets its nickname from its perfectly round, flat rosettes that resemble floating lily pads. Its chubby, green leaves grow in tight, symmetrical circles that look almost unreal.

What makes it even more lovable is unlike many Aeoniums that grow tall and leggy, this variety stays compact and low to the soil, making it perfect for shallow pots, fairy gardens, or as a centerpiece succulent in your arrangement.

Fun Fact:

The Lily Pad Aeonium is thought to be a cross between Aeonium tabuliforme and another tight forming rosette type. The result is a slow growing, flat hybrid that’s just as photogenic as it is rare.

Care Tips for Your Lily Pad Aeonium

Light: Bright indirect light is best. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, especially in hot climates. If you’re keeping it indoors, a sunny windowsill works perfectly.

Water: Water only when the soil is completely dry. Like all Aeoniums, the Lily Pad doesn’t like soggy feet. Use a well-draining succulent mix, and avoid pots without drainage holes (unless you’re confident in your watering game).

Temperature: These guys prefer cooler temps and can be sensitive to extreme heat. Keep them shaded in the summer and bring them inside if temps drop below 40°F.

Propagation: This hybrid is notoriously slow to produce offsets, and propagating from leaves is hit or miss. But if it does pup, consider yourself lucky, you’ve just hit the succulent jackpot.
