Parodia leninghausii is a cactus known for its tall columnar shape and soft golden spines that give it a fuzzy look. How to Care for Parodia leninghausii

Light

Parodia leninghausii thrives in bright light to full sun. For best growth, give it several hours of direct sunlight daily. Indoors, place near your brightest window.

If grown in insufficient light, it may begin stretching and lose its compact shape.

Water

Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. When watering be sure to thoroughly soak the soil and allow the excess water to drain away. Never allow the pot to sit in standing water. During winter, reduce your watering significantly since the plant grows much more slowly.

Soil

Use a well-draining cactus and succulent mix. If you grow indoors or tend to overwater, add additional perlite or pumice to improve its drainage. Faster-draining soil helps water move away from the roots more quickly, reducing the chance of rot.

Temperature

Parodia leninghausii thrives between 65°F and 90°F and should be protected from frost and prolonged temperatures below 30°F.

Fertilizer

It's is a slow-growing cactus that needs very little fertilizer. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted cactus fertilizer. Do not fertilize during fall and winter when growth naturally slows.

Blooming

Mature plants produce beautiful yellow flowers near the crown of the cactus during its growing season. Blooms are more common on older plants that receive plenty of sunlight.

Average household humidity is perfectly fine. It prefers good airflow and does not require additional humidity.

it is most commonly propagated from offsets, pups, that develop around the base. be sure removed offsets callous for several days before planting them in dry, well-draining soil. Once roots develop you can water the offset.

This is usually caused by not enough light. Move it to a brighter spot and gradually increase sun exposure.

My Cactus Feels Soft

Softness is usually a sign of overwatering or root rot. Allow the soil to dry completely and inspect the roots if it doesn't get better.

It is naturally a slow grower. It grows much more during spring and summer. Give it more light  and that can help encourage healthier growth.
