Crassula Perforata (Variegated String of Buttons)
Crassula perforata ‘Variegata,’ also known as the Variegated String of Buttons, is a stunning trailing succulent with stacked, triangular leaves spiraling up its stems. Unlike the classic green form, this variety shows off creamy white, soft yellow, and pale green stripes, often blushed with pink edges when grown in bright sunlight.
Native to South Africa, this succulent grows quickly and makes an impressive statement in hanging planters, on shelves, or spilling over containers. Its unusual color patterns and geometric growth habit make it a favorite for collectors looking for something unique. In spring, it may produce clusters of tiny star shaped flowers.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Provide bright, direct to filtered sunlight. Strong light brings out the pink edges and variegation.
-
Water: Water thoroughly, then allow soil to dry completely. More tolerant of drought than excess water.
-
Soil: Use a fast draining succulent or cactus mix.
-
Temperature: Keep in warm temperature; protect from frost.
-
Growth Habit: Trails beautifully and can reach several feet with time.
The Variegated String of Buttons is playful and elegant, a plant that brightens any collection with its stripes and cascading form.

Succly Plant Care
Our succulents are low-maintenance but love a little TLC:
• Light: Bright, indirect sunlight is best
• Water: Only when soil is fully dry, usually every 1–2 weeks
• Potting: Keep in well-draining soil with drainage holes
• Love: Rotate occasionally for even growth, and talk to them (they like compliments)
Every plant comes ready to thrive, just add a little sunshine and love!
