Kalanchoe Luciae Paddle Plant-Flapjacks
Kalanchoe luciae, often called the Paddle Plant or Flapjacks, is a bold succulent known for its large, flat, paddle shaped leaves. The leaves are a silvery green that blush deep red around the edges when exposed to bright sunlight or cool temperatures, making it a real showstopper in any collection.
Native to South Africa, this succulent forms a rosette that can reach up to 12–16 inches across. In late winter to spring, mature plants may send up tall flower stalks topped with clusters of fragrant yellow blooms.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Thrives in bright light to full sun. Strong sun brings out the vibrant red leaf margins.
-
Water: Water deeply, then allow soil to dry out completely. Overwatering is the quickest way to damage Paddle Plants.
-
Soil: Use a well draining cactus or succulent mix.
-
Temperature: Best in warm conditions; protect from frost.
-
Fertilizer: Feed lightly with diluted succulent fertilizer during active growth.
-
Growth Habit: Forms large rosettes and can grow pups at the base over time.
The Paddle Plant is an instant statement piece. Its bold form and shifting colors make it a favorite for both landscapes and containers, perfect for anyone looking to add drama and structure to their succulent collection.

Succly Plant Care
Our succulents are low-maintenance but love a little TLC:
• Light: Bright, indirect sunlight is best
• Water: Only when soil is fully dry, usually every 1–2 weeks
• Potting: Keep in well-draining soil with drainage holes
• Love: Rotate occasionally for even growth, and talk to them (they like compliments)
Every plant comes ready to thrive, just add a little sunshine and love!
